Student Learning Contract

The student learning contract is intended to make sure that students know what is expected of them in order to receive an AlbanyCanCode Certificate of Completion. Students are asked to read and sign the Learning Contract during their first class.

We understand that sometimes life gets in the way, and students may not be able to meet these expectations exactly as they are written. We ask that in these situations students get in touch with us and work out an alternative plan to complete the course.

Student Learning Contract

Class Participation

I understand that regular active and positive class participation is expected from all students. My participation in this class will help my instructors get to know me and better advocate for me within the employer network.

Classwork

I understand that in order to qualify for a Certificate of Completion, I must complete 80% of the assignments given by my instructor. These assignments will show my instructor that I understand the material and help prepare me for tasks in the workforce.

I understand that AlbanyCanCode instructors and TAs are available to assist me with these assignments, and that if I encounter any difficulties in completing them, they are there to offer guidance and support.

Assessments

I understand that my instructor may give periodic assessments to get a sense of whether I comprehend the material or not. These assessments are not graded, but failure to complete them may jeopardize my ability to complete the course.

Attendance

I understand that in order to qualify for a Certificate of Completion, I must attend 75% of the classes. If circumstances prevent me from attending classes, I will contact my instructor and the AlbanyCanCode staff to see if there is an alternative way for me to complete my course.

If I do not attend at least 75% of the classes, I will jeopardize my chances of being accepted into future AlbanyCanCode classes.

Final Project

I understand that in order to qualify for a Certificate of Completion, I must participate in the creation of the final group project.

If I find myself unable to participate in this project, I will communicate with my instructor and AlbanyCanCode staff to see if there is an alternate way to complete my course based on the circumstances.

I understand that if I fail to meet the expectations laid out in this learning contract, I will not have completed this course. I will not receive a Certificate of Completion and I will not be invited to take part in the graduate portal. I understand that my instructor will notify me in writing if I am in danger of not completing the course and will work with me to get back on track to completion.

I understand that if I exceed the minimum expectations laid out in this learning contract I may qualify for a Certificate of Completion with Distinction.
